The Gove Family The Gove family has been significant in the Rutland community since Nathaniel and Esther Gove settled there in 1784. This issue of the quarterly describes their history. Generations of Gove families have continued to influence the city politically, socially and economically. Marriages bound the Goves with two other old Rutland families: the Thralls and the Chaffees. This helped to strengthen the family's place in the community for generations to come.

A VermontBoyhood, by Thomas Emerson Ripley, describes his time in a "most awful brick structure." With quotes and pictures of a class and a football team, it's interesting to see what school on...

The Secrets of Glen Garage Glen's Garage presents a secret worth uncovering for people such as author David Zsido who happens to have a passion for antique cars. Sidney Butterfield operated and owned a business in the 1920s that provided gasoline and help for many people having difficulty with their cars. The garage lay vacant through many seasons of weathering, but everything inside was relatively preserved, and tools, headlights, magazines, newspapers and other artifacts piled up in these buil...
